Green Pest Control

The environmentally sensible choice

Breda uses products made from Diatomaceous Earth.
This is an all-natural product that is completely harmless to humans and pets.

  • What makes your service “green?”
Diatomaceous earth is a remarkable, all-natural product made from tiny fossilized water plants. Diatomaceous Earth is a naturally occurring siliceous sedimentary mineral compound from microscopic skeletal remains of unicellular algae-like plants called diatoms. These plants have been part of the earth’s ecology since prehistoric times. It is believed that 30 million years ago the diatoms built up into deep, chalky deposits of diatomite. The diatoms are mined and ground up to render a powder that looks and feels like talcum powder to us. It is a mineral based pesticide. DE is approximately 3% magnesium, 33% silicon, 19% calcium, 5% sodium, 2% iron and many other trace minerals such as titanium, boron, manganese, copper and zirconium. Diatomaceous Earth is a natural (not calcined or flux calcined) compound. It is used as a filtration aid, as a mild abrasive, as a mechanical insecticide, as an absorbent for liquids, as cat litter, as an activator in blood clotting studies, and as a component of dynamite. As it is also heat-resistant, it can be used as a thermal insulator.
  • Is it ok for my family?
Breda’s pest prevention program focuses on protecting both you and your environment. Our methods are family and pet friendly and help to eliminate the health risks posed by pests.
  • Don’t all pest control companies do this kind of service?
No, traditional pest control companies apply a barrier around the outside and spray baseboards on the interior. This leads to airborne particles that can be harmful to small children or pets.
  • All this sounds great, but does it really work?
Yes! Not only does Breda’s pest prevention program utilize an environmentally responsible approach, it is also GUARANTEED effective!
